If you are visiting, I suggest small, practical items such as good quality toothbrushes and small tubes of toothpaste. Girls will enjoy combs, hair clips, hair bands, ribbons or bars of soap. Boys will be happy to receive combs and soap. Both girls and boys of school age will be pleased to receive pencils, pens and notebooks, as well as boxes of crayons. Preschool children will enjoy the fat crayons intended for preschoolers, and notebooks or paper.

Many children in orphanages also have to share items—or there may more children then you have gifts. In that case, age-appropriate books are often welcomed.

If you check with the orphanage’s administration, they may have other suggestions in addition to those I have made.

It’s kind of you to think of what you can bring. I wish you a rewarding visit.
